Description: This was created as a proof of concept to show how VR could be used in manufacturing training. In this mock training scenario (see video below), the trainee can learn how to identify the correct parts for each engine in order to avoid installing the wrong parts on either engine. The differences between the corresponding parts on each engine are subtle and this gives the trainee a unique way to compare the parts and study those differences.

What I did: I worked with a developer to get all of the gameplay worked out. As far as asset creation, I used photogrammetry to create the two engine models and most of the engine parts.

Technical Challenges: I initially attempted to use a 3D scanner but found the process to be slow and unpredictable. I needed a more reliable solution, so I switched to photogrammetry using my DSLR. I created a cage with tracking points surrounding the parts for better results. See photos of my setup below.
