Description: I was tasked with creating six satellite models to be 3D printed. Once printed, our exhibit shop modelers finished all of the painting and details to turn them into high quality exhibit models. The final models were used in a traveling museum exhibit called Neighborhood Earth.

What I did: To begin the project, I created an initial test print to determine the optimal detail sizes and best practices for modeling. Once I completed each of the final models, I sent them to our exhibit shop to be printed and finished. I also created diagrams to assist with assembly. The diagrams included assembly instructions as well as dimensions for the parts that weren’t being 3D printed and were being made by hand instead. The modelers then completed each of the satellite models with paint, foil, decals and other small details.
